MARRIAGE PROPOSAL GONE WRONG!! SHE SAID NO!!! 😳😨😢
These Besties Actually Faked a Marriage Proposal Just to Get Free Dessert
They say there's no such thing as a free lunch, but with a good scheme and awesome partner by your side, a free dessert is totally possible. That's what we learned from Alex Nagle, 17, and Cati Domitrovich, 19–a pair of besties living in Austin, Texas.
Alex and Cati, who are just platonic friends, only met a few months ago, but Cati told Seventeen.com that "it feels like years" because they clicked right away.
Cati said that both of them were having a really bad week, so they decided to get out of town for the weekend and drive over to San Antonio. Cati is an actress and loves to play crazy characters, so she suggested that they take on new identities and pretend to be newlyweds or something. Alex then one-upped her and told her he'd pretend to propose to her while they were at dinner.
Cati loved the idea, so they got a ring and picked a romantic riverside restaurant for the scene.
"The proposal was a hit," she said. "When I went to the bathroom, Alex told the waitress he was proposing to his girlfriend and that he wanted it on video. So when I got back from the bathroom, he told me we were taking a picture. He then bent down on one knee and began his speech. I ended up getting a bit nervous so I accidentally cut him off in the middle of his spiel, but I said yes and everyone clapped!"
The waitress then brought out a tiny cup of creme brûlée, some chocolate mousse, and a little piece of cake to celebrate.
Cati put up the photos on Twitter with the caption, "we faked a proposal just to get free dessert," and it went way more viral than she could have ever imagined.
"When I posted the tweet I thought it'd get maybe 600 likes at most," she said. "Some people are really upset about it, but others have found it brilliant. The best part is seeing all the people tagging their friends or significant others saying they wanted to try it too! It was so crazy, and this definitely cured our bad weeks!"
Now, given that way they did is essentially con a restaurant, we can't really condone their actions. However, Cati did get a nice message from the restaurant–Biga on The Banks –inviting the "couple" to come back again, so in this case it's all's well that end's well.
